We aren’t here to bash on millennials. Boomers already do that enough without prompting. What we ARE going to talk about are avocados. About last year, there has been this weird fad about millennials getting obsessed with putting avocados on toast. It’s gotten so popular that it’s gotten to the point where it’s being parodied and maybe even mocked by the older generation for some reason.
The reason could maybe just because of their obsession with staying fit and healthy. Or maybe it’s the fact that avocados pack a lot of fibre and will help you slim down in the process. Young adults these days are kind of toeing the line between “I must be fit before turning 30” and “I can eat anything I want, no body-shame” so it wouldn’t be much of a stress.
Or maybe it’s just because avocados are delicious and it’s easier to get obsessed over something that ACTUALLY tastes good? Especially if you put in on toast.
I, however, can tell you in full honesty that I have never tried eating avocado on toast. I can’t confirm if it’s actually delicious or not, but I DO love avocados. The way of which I consume them is pretty simple too, because I just mash one into a mug, pour milk n sugar on it and then mix. That’s it. It’s really good, by the way.
Well, whatever you believe is the reason why avocados are what millennials are obsessed with (aside from houseplants), you cannot deny the amazing health benefits of an avocado.
- Nutrient rich!
- Healthy for the heart
- Great for vision
- Prevents osteoporosis
- No cancer
- Healthy babies
- Risks of depression is lowered
- Improved digestion
- Natural detoxification
- Treatment for osteoporosis
- Antimicrobial action
- Protection against chronic diseases
If these benefits don’t convince you to try and change your diet, then maybe you aren’t the type to want to be healthy after all and just stick to your dirty way of life. You can eat an avocado in any way you want, whether you want to be like a millennial and spread it on toast, or be like me and turn it into a dessert after eating dinner. As long as you eat one every day, you will be getting the fibre you actually need every day. That is the most important fact to get out of this topic.
The second most important fact is that avocados are DELICIOUS… if paired with something else and maybe if it’s being sprinkled with sugar or something. It’s like ketchup, you see. You love it if you dip fries in it or pour it over pasta to make spaghetti. But would you try to drink ketchup alone? You wouldn’t, of course. Avocados are like that for me. Maybe it can be very tasty alone for some people, but to those who have disagreeable taste buds but still want a healthy diet, be creative in how you eat your avocados.
